From 16 to 22 September, Catalonia celebrates European Mobility Week (EMW) 2026, an initiative that promotes more sustainable, safe and healthy mobility habits. This year, the campaign focuses on “Mobility for all” and intergenerational justice.
The initiative aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, economic situation, location, gender or abilities, can access sustainable and high-quality transport. This is particularly relevant at a time when mobility needs to address both the needs of current generations and those of future generations.
In this context, European Mobility Week encourages us to reflect on how we move around and on the need to continue progressing towards a model that prioritises walking, cycling and public transport, as well as other more sustainable mobility alternatives. At the same time, it contributes to reducing pollution and improving air quality and the use of public space.
In Barcelona, the week features an extensive programme of activities across the city’s different districts, including talks, workshops, presentations and the traditional open days organised by public transport services. Currently, more than 80% of journeys made in the city are by sustainable modes of transport, highlighting the importance of continuing to promote more efficient and safer urban mobility.
At the Cluster Catalonia Logistics, we are joining this initiative and highlighting the importance of moving towards more sustainable and inclusive mobility, also from the logistics sector.
